We crossed the Rio Grande River again, possibly the same water we’d seen days before at the Rio Grande Reservoir in Colorado. This time we were 180 miles or so below the reservoir, at least the way the highway goes but maybe not the river. And we didn’t wade, the river was 800 feet

We un-circled the Vallecito wagons and headed overland to Pagosa Springs, Colorado about 65 miles away. Pagosa is a small mountain town in the San Juan Mountains, western gateway to the once feared Wolf Creek Pass and home to some geothermal hot water baths.

We stayed five nights at Blue Spruce RV Park above Vallecito (V-eye-see-toe) Reservoir north of Bayfield Colorado. Vallecito means little valley. The campground elevation is 7,980 feet so there were short periods of activity followed by lots of huffing and puffing.
